Dunk that fitting in there hanging off a piece of welding rod - swish it around and rinse it off in fresh water - and polish it right up.
If you make the solution too strong - it will fizz and boil and you better be quick on your dip! Also DO NOT PUT THIS CLOSE TO YOUR FACE either - the fumes are more than nasty! Make it too weak and it takes forever... after a couple of batches you'll get the hang of it.
