I think with the recent surge in really good looking pro-touring first gens it really couldn't be helped. It has spurred on the demand and a hot new trend. The fact that the quantites of aftermarket parts now available for the 1st gens has reached staggering levels helps too. It is relatively easy now to build a 1st gen to whatever specification or theme you desire with very few limitations. The arrival of the new Camaro helps with name brand recognition with the general public but I don't really affects those of us with 1st gens. The new and old cars aren't the same in any respect except the name plate. With a couple years of production, like any car, the demand will drop and we will be back to the popularity levels they had through the 70's, 80's, and 90's IMO. Camaros have a select market niche just like the Mustangs but nobody will ever forget a 1st gen Camaro or Mustang.....ever.
