I've wondered about this too. I'll be replacing some panels soon. I've read where a couple guys didn't trust that the factories making replacement sheet metal were doing a thorough job of keeping the metal clean before coating them. That the primer is good but if there's anything under it that's gonna cause problems later. But I don't know of any instances where someone painted over it and had problems. Anyone ever had that happen?
