I really don't think Eric was trying to say he is any worse off than any of the rest of us. Just that it was not a great year and hopes 2010 is better. Like a lot of us are hoping too.
I am sorry your situation is not so good/fun either. I think many of us here can agree that we all want a better year this time around. Hope yours is better too.
