The LS platform is a great design and for the guys that don't want to use EFI or ECMs to take advantage of these engines the distibutor and carb is a great way to go. And some racing bodies are using the LS engines now and require the use of a carb. The LS being lighter (aluminum block versions anyway), more efficient, easy to swap cams in, making great power for the size, and a whole lot more just makes them a good choice in power plants.
