Money is all relative. I have buddies that can't scrape up $500 for headers and then they come over to my shop where I've just bought "X" part for 10 grand that I think is "nothing".
The OP was asking about being stuck in a "brake upgrade world" to summarize his statement/question.... and I think if you're selling magazines - you need to suck people in with the no budget dream cars - but it's the how to articles for suspension - intake - brake upgrades that will be on the most read list.
