Thrashing to get a car ready for show is one thing, but going out to go 150 mph in a just put together car is dangerous. Every car needs some shakedown. I don't know - I maintain and build my car religously and I still find things that scare me - stuff working loose or interfering, new leaks.
I guess I just wouldn't be pushing your luck to get on track. Get the car ready and then go. There is no shortage of events in your area.
