The only modification to stock parts I'm aware of is the "drill mod" and it's not specific to first gens - it improves the operation of the hydraulics in stock applications as well. Essentially, the ID of the factory hose is too small, allowing the system to pump up with rapid shifting. The drill mod increases the flow, preventing pump up.
