Just thought you guys would enjoy this.. dialing in the new Penske shocks.. money well spent.
I just bought a full set of the 8300s about 4 months ago while completely starting a redesign of my race car's suspension, so I haven't used them yet, but I expect to be as happy I was working on finishing up the front suspension design today and thru this weekend, the rear is done, so hope to get on the track by Oct before snow falls.

You have just learned how important shocks are to a car's setup It is so amazing how important shock setup is - way more than many other components that people tend to over focus on. Glad to see you are happy with the purchase and that is great you could get a Penske guy to come out and tune for you!

And having a fast driver set your car up is actually a great idea - you can learn to drive fast v. tune the car to your slower driving. Loose is fast

I find it most interesting that your car is better without a rear bar... it is a common question with race 914s - some cars like them, some don't. When I had an open diff I preferred without, but with the new LSD I intend to add a bar to the rear... who knows, maybe I can tune the car faster without it as well. Food for thought, thanks for the post.
