I have an 86 Carrera. I'm 5' 6" 140 with a size 8 1/2 shoe and it took me some time getting used to the pedals, seemed like the gas was almost behind the console at first. I don't notice at all now, just seems natural.

I see tall guys with the 911 based cars and always wondered how much of a pain it is for them. If the car fits me like a glove do they feel like they're stuffed into the car?

Porsche guys expect you'll want a PPI so don't hesitate to ask if you can get one. The money you spend could be lost 10 fold if the engine needs rebuild etc. Several significant changes were made in the mid-late 80's while they were still air cooled. Trans installed in the 911s changed in the mid 80's and the later one is favored. 1st gear use in the earlier one isn't as smooth and I believe the later one will take more power. Good forum to find info, help, cars for sale, etc. is http://forums.pelicanparts.com/
