Default Your Ideas: Using Parts from other vehicles

I was thinking this might be a good topic: I am a budget builder. I like to look for my own ways to use other parts from salvage yard vehicles to work on my camaro. I thought we could share ideas of different parts that work well with a variety of our PT style cars.

For Instance:

A Late model Corvette 6 speed Wiper motor looks identicle to the wiper motor that is sold by a aftermarket company. I have not tryed this, but I plan to buy the wiper motor with a wiring harness and build a adapter plate to mount into my firewall.

4th Gen Camaro seats work well in 67-69 camaros with a easy modification to the rear seat brackets. The front mounting points work with the stock holes.

Interior Insulation: I went to Lowe's and bought some insulation that is recommended for RV'S and auto's. 50 Sq. ft for $25.00

Custom Jute Board: (fits between the rear seat and trunk) I took a piece of the plastic board-(looks a lot like cardboard, but is a tough plastic) and wrapped my cheap interior insulation around it to make my own jute pad. I used some aerosol glue to tack the insulation

Late model corvette electric radiator fans and shroud is a pretty close fit on a 67-69 camaro radiator. 26"x18"x6" on the corvette shroud. Camaro radiator dimensions are a bit bigger.

A third gen. camaro rearend works well under my 68 camaro. Although I have been told the third gen. rears are not tough like the 1st and 2nd gens. My car is going to be street driven and mild so it should work well for me. I have a posi 3:23 from a 85 camaro w/ disc brakes and single piston calipers. Note: The rearend is .5 wider on each end, 1" wider than stock.

Custom Trunk Batter tray: I built mine out of .5" square tubing and 1/4" sheetmetal. I am having the tray sprayed with reflex truck bedliner.

4th gen camaro rearview mirrors: have a map light mounted in them for an extra light in the car. or a temp and directional mirror out of another late model vehicle.
