I ONLY use the Percy's split locks... especially on a SBC where the clearance issues are difficult enough to start with. Never ever had to tighten them or have a header leak. I also use the EARLS gaskets with the replaceable inserts. The gasket is soft and the aluminum framework allows you to handle them. If you use these - read the instructions FIRST... as you want to roll off the edges and place the gasket material on a hard flat surface - then snap the frame over them.
