When you are dealing with guys who have that kind of disposable money, it is much easier for them to justify writing off $500K for the pleasure of being the first guy in the country to own a '07 Shelby than to just give the money to charity. I don't think it can be compared to the guy that just spent $500K on a car that he HAS to pay taxes on.
As cool as the Motion Camaro is, I think pricewise it is too far out there. The market gets very thin at that kind of money for a toy. In order for that car to survive the market, I think the price would have to come down considerably and take the car back to its roots. A serious performance contender with fewer thrills and bling.
