Yeah, it is a bit of a contradiction..."tight budget".... but I picked up the motor from a wreck with 12000 miles for $400, computer and all. The T56 is from a Viper,$200, got it from a friend at Dodge dealer. Yes, it needs to be rebuilt. Already traded off the slug 390 engine that came out of the Torino for a 9" and a ton of other smaller parts.
There still is some big ticket items I have to get, clutch, brakes, coilovers, etc and aftermarket EFI if I go that route. All the work and fab will be done by me in my home garage, probably only send it out for paint.
The supercharger would be from Ebay, they can be had off a Gt500 quite cheap. I have to fab everything else for that engine anyway.
Back 11 years ago when I built my Bronco the Canadian dollar was only worth about 65 cents U.S. So buying a $100 part quickly became $200+ after exchange, shipping and duties. Thats why I fabbed most of it. Its the same plan for the Torino except my dollar is better, but now I want to fab all I can.
Once I get some decent photos I will post them.
