Default Need some suggestions on how to ship a lot of loose parts

Guys,

Hopefully someone here will have some good advice for me...

I have a bunch of items that I need to ship from Texas back to the east coast. It's a large number of parts for one of my father's cars. Some are small, but some are large/heavy. If I go a route like UPS, I'll have 10 or so boxes, some being 50# or more, and there are still a couple of items that would be too big to do that with.

So I'm wondering if freight might be an option. What I would love to find is some kind of 'rental' type freight container, something perhaps 4' x 4' x 4' might work, although I do have a dash that is about 5.5' long that I would like to ship (not absolutely required though). If I could find a container like this, then I could load it up and have it trucked to its destination.

Does anyone know if any freight companies offer anything like this? Or if not, any idea of where I could get a container about that size? It doesn't need to be exact, and I could consider something smaller.

I could get a pallet and try to strap a bunch of boxes to it, but I don't feel really comfortable with that option, something larger that I could seal would be best.

Anyone have any good ideas?

Thanx!
