Mike,
You should be fine for awhile. But before you start it the first time you will need to pressure lube the engine. Meaning, prime the oil system before start up.
The proceedure is different for the ls motors vs sbc. But the idea is the same. To pre lube everything by spinning up the oil pump until you see oil come out of the top of the pushrods/rockers. Some say to rotate the crank by hand a few revolutions while priming.

I recently saw a article on how to build your own pressure lube device for ls motors. I will try to find it.
