So what flange to flange measurement is needed to tuck 315s with a mini tub?
Sean, as others mentioned, there are many, many things to consider when deciding on axle width and the first should be can you and should you minitub? It sounds like you are new to this hobby? Do you know what all has to happen to do a mini-tub?
Let's say you do, you need to be sure that the 315's will fit and not rub when going through a hard corner. How much clearance do you need? That depends on suspension - springs, sway bars, bushings, panhard bar... and how hard it will be cornered.
So once you get past the suspension, brakes come into play. Drums and discs will require different clearances at the frame rail.
Next, what are you willing to pay for wheels? If you stay with what is off the shelf, then you will need to design the axle width around the offsets that come with the wheel. If you are going to custom order your wheels, you have a little more option here.
The other important thing about the wheels is the width. The same tire may fit on a 8 1/2 wheel and a 9 inch but the side wall of the tire will get wider or narrower which again will affect clearance.
One of the easiest ways to approach this would be to copy someone elses set up. No two cars will be the same. Doing your homework here is important.
Feel free to PM me as I just got through all of this on my Skylark
