I'm thinking they screwed up and put female connectors instead of male. You should swap them out, not overly difficult with the right crimpers. There's a tool that looks like a screwdriver with what appears like a female tube on the end that slips over the connectors and releases the tangs that hold it in the plastic connector. I've also taken them apart with a small screwdriver.
