I did the same in the past, worked fine. They make o-ring sealed AN washers to use on either side to seal it, no leaks. Later switched to a remote reservoir pump and one of Mike's (Musclerodz) remote ps tanks, worked even better and cleared up a lot of room around the pump for me.
