Another protouring part that wasn't properly tested. Imagine that. I'd say a refund is in order.
The vent location is likely the cause of the 10psi blow off valve. A little pressure is good to help the tailshaft/input shaft seals.
I wonder if you could decrease the orfice size that feeds the shifter mechanism with oil? Some type of a rubber plug with a small hole would probably work.
