Remember that they can pick the hp number from anywhere on the dyno sheet -- they never said ''425 hp @ 4600 rpm" -- nor did they mention TORQUE (the only true measurement).
Also PRIOR to 1973 they were rated at SAE GROSS... in other words - no accessories etc -- after that they were rated SAE NET with accessories as installed in the car.
