I could be wrong though, I personally do not have hands on experience with the s-trac (just talking with the guys from strange) yet but I do understand its basic function mimics the wavetrac from moser.
I was also told that they have not tested it above 500 RWHP yet unlike the wavetrac which is guaranteed to 800. Once you get your car up and running please give some feedback on the s-trac. I hear many mixed feelings about the wavetrac now that its getting more exposure in the auto-x realm.

The S-Trac does require a load before the other axle will engage. Most Helical gear differentials function this way.
