I would reconmend getting them serviced, its fairly inexpensive. I service the extinguishers at work (have my Cal Fire license) and I pulled one from a truck, it had compacted so bad that there is no way it would have worked if he needed it. Id be willing to bet that you could get a expired extinguisher that needs hydrostatic testing for next to nothing. Call a few local fire extinguisher techs and ask what they have for sale, youd be surprised.
