At Thunderhill it would be hard to get into a "sudden deceleration" event (hitting a wall)... but Sonoma is concrete walls and some blind corners where you could get into trouble with coolant on track or a spin out etc...
After seeing how much damage was done to the two cars coming off turn 6 @ Sonoma gets you thinking about this kind of stuff.... The brand new Shelby GT500 was smashed front and back.

It may not be a wall... It could be a spun car sitting on the track!! I can think of a 1000 good reasons to wear a head and neck restraint... Give me one valid reason NOT to wear one,
