Todays head designs need less total timing - and todays gas also like less timing.... Of course the only real way to know what it "wants" is a dyno... and timing is far more important for performance than A/F ratios.
I agree with Greg here buddy! When we ran our circle track engines on the dyno, they loved 40*. That was with 043 Cast Iron BowTie heads and 10.5:1. As soon as we tested a better set of aluminum heads on the same short block and cam we were down to 38* total. I think all you are doing now is making heat. Glad to hear it singing! Congrats!
