Given that we're talking about a very critical suspension component here...I would hesitate to bolt a coil-over to the stock LCA. My concern would be the ability of that 40 year old piece of metal being able to handle the entire load being applied in a relatively small area. With the conventional spring setup, the load is distributed across a wider area of the LCA, in an area by the way, which was designed for that load.

Personally, I would go with an aftermarket LCA designed for coilovers...SPC, Speedtech, Ridetech, etc.
