There are o-rings inside the main body. Both pieces have threads.
Slip the "U" portion on the male fitting with the threads pointing toward the outlet. Slip the main body (oil the o-ring first) on to the fittings and screw them together. In the photo below the "U" nut is not fully seated in the main body.
