I like the Race Ready shifter. Very positive action without any "pull up/push down/slap yer knee twice" lock-out nonsense. And they do make a 4L80E version. The only downside is that it is very large.
I'm not sure about the TH400 gate spacing as I've always tried to make the 700R4 4L60E stuff work. That would be a definite maybe.
