Did the engine builder know you were going to be storing the engine? Typically, they'll use grease instead of motor oil if they know this ahead of time.

If not, you'll want to put oil in the engine and prime it before you put a bag over the engine. You can put rags in the intake and exhaust ports or tape. I'd use rags. Once a month, I'd re prime the engine and rotate the engine. Re prime the engine first each time. Put a squirt or two of oil into each cylinder through the spark plug holes. Or if you have a lubricant spray you like, use that instead. WD40 is a waste of time though.

This is how I would do things.
