I had a measure of my diff today ,, its a tru trac moser ,, it has big drums,, did they use ford rear brakes on some of these? Im sure i saw a ford logo stamped into the backing plate somewhere when i purchased it? will that be a factor with getting rear discs or are the axle flanges the same stud pattern?
sorry i got a lot of questions here ,, i also thought narrowing each side 2.5 would bring the saddles very close to the axle flange..

If you want to simplify things, have moser weld on Chevy housing ends on. Pn 7900 or 7900FM (flush mount). This will allow you to use your parking brake backing plate as a bearing retainer depending on the disc brakes you run. The 7900 uses a large press on ford style bearing so that eliminates the c clip. If you already have your rear end and need to narrow it, you can cut off the ends and replace with the 7900's. You can get your axles cut and resplined and change the bolt pattern to Chevy 5x 4 3/4.
