Marty I did do some research on this before and really thought about it and the valving in the shocks is completly tunable for the difference in weight. this makes such a huge difference on my sled getting the dampening dialed in it is just incredible how big of a difference a couple of clicks makes so after talking to my shock guy for building snowmobile shocks he custom makes all kinds of shocks and assured me I was not crazy he revalved them to care of my concerns I am confident they will work but I am not afraid to fail if they don't I am going to run the same in the rear.

I agree there may be some issues with putting these on a car, this car probably has move than 500lbs per corner without the sheet metal 
the car is what 3600lbs without bodies in it? I see that the air bag bares the weight but the ability of a shock absorber to do its job depends on the effective area of the working piston. It will be interesting to hear if these can keep up in discharging all that thermal energy.

these are off a 2002 pro x no air in these.
