I have to recommend a 9.5" rim width with a 275, with 5.5" of backspacing, on a stock tubbed 69. This has been beaten to death, as you say.
If you do manage to get a 10" w/275 on there, you will have to roll the outer lip and will most likely (and I'd lean towards "definately") have some inner sidewall contact when the axle tilts side to side (like when entering a driveway at an angle, for example.) You have to leave some room for the axle to articulate.
The extra .5" of rim width ain't worth the hassle, IMHO. - Rob
