Bill, I assume you have the output shaft with the 3 prongs on it if I'm not mistaken. It would be easier and cheaper to get a driveshaft made with the front end adapted with the 3 prong fitting and the tail end made for a u-joint. That's what most guys are doing. Either that, or as you said, change the tailshaft to a splined output. I have a 6L80 out of an 08 Escalade and it has the splined output shaft.
