It reminds me of the time I was at SEMA and attended an opening breakfast with Caroll Shelby as the guest speaker. The gentleman interviewing him asked for him to share with the crowd a story about the Cobra Car.
He mentioned in the initial testing the car was overheating. An entire group of lead engineers approached him with the problem and asked for his advice.
His reply: "Well it looks like the radiator is not getting enough air" The engineers politely agreed and with subtle gestures let him know they were aware of that.
Next he said "Well my advice would be to cut a larger hole in the front of the car"
Hence the "fish mouth" look of the Cobra.
And everyone thinks this design was some kind of design marvel. Awesome car, but the thought behind it was all Shelby and his obvious thinking. The results I think speak for themselves.
