Yes, if you mean a wider caliper. It may even allow for a larger diameter if it moves the caliper into a larger diameter portion of the wheel, however that will vary with wheel and caliper design.

Wheel adapters and/or spacers effectively increase the mounting pad thickness of the wheel (effectively reducing the backspacing by the adapter/spacer thickness), increasing the amount of axial space for calipers. This can be significant when running large fixed mount calipers like those found on the C6 Z06 Corvette applications with relatively shallow rotors which result in larger caliper overhang dimensions.
