Roger,

I used the GM LS pilot bearing that presses into the large bore in the end of the crank. Using this pilot bearing, and the bell housing spacer... the input shaft on the T56 transmission fit perfect and went into the pilot bearing about 3/4".

Here is a picture of the LS pilot bearing pressed into the end of the crank.
