Best thing to do is to find a good HVAC professional in your area. They should be able to quickly let you know what you will need for your area.

I'm in DFW with a 2000 sq ft shop with 12' eaves and a 16' peak on the inside. 2x6 walls, insulated doors, solar board, fully drywalled and insulated inside, etc.. I've got a 5 ton Trane HVAC unit with gas furnace and it easily holds whatever temp I put it at- hot or cold without issue.

Every situation is going to be different depending on your situation which is why a local professional can give you the best info.
