I would have thought you would change the rate to lower the car, not use a shorter spring of the same rate. But I am usually out in the weeds... Let's see if one of the experts weighs in....

Make sure your shock is roughly centered in it's travel at ride height when you are finished. If it is right now then you cannot make it much lower, expecially for a street driven car.
