I figured out what was causing the loss of power---pulled the tank, cleaned the filter, nothing. Blew out the lines--felt like there was a restriction. Traced the line to see if it was kinked anywhere and I found a smashed clamp on the fuel line. When I had jacked up the car from the side, I accidently got the jack to close to one of the adell clamps which squeezed the nylon braided fuel line together---there was just enough fuel to get me through the those first couple of turns in the float bowl--but the pump couldn't pull enough through that restriction to keep up. Did it to myself per usual. At least it was an easy fix. Works fine now.
