Looks to me like a poor connection between the plugwire and the cap on the corroded terminals. I see very little evidence of the terminal scraping the corrosion when you pulled the wire loose.

In any case, the wires from those terminals are toast (they'll be corroded too). Frankly, I'd replace the whole set. When you put the new wires onto the new cap (and plugs), they should snap on tightly, with a "click." Put dielectric silicone in the wire terminals (Cap side and plug side) to keep moisture out.

Do get another brass cap (like the one you have, the terminals are brass), and a good set of wires.
