Renegade is a good place to get parts to this type of project. There is a few places you can get adepter plates and with the transmission depending on its original position in the donor car (Porsche 911) you just flip it 180 degrees. The G-50 is a widely excepted unit. There are a ton of different G-50 units. From 2k to 30k. Mine is on the lowest end at this point. Changing the gear ratios is a important task to take on. These are designed to work well with a high revving 6 cylinder and really need some work to match well with the LSx engines. It does get expensive but the wrong gear ratio can kill a project. I'll be doing some ratio changing once I get things on the road. Its a 5k investment to start.
