I'm getting closer but something is missing in the equation. The bottom portion of the "V" has no place for the "U" shaped end of the spring to lock into. I think this is the problem, that the console manufacturer didn't put a slot for the "U" end of the spring. I may need that picture after all. I'm feeling pretty stupid right now
In the pics have I got the orientation of the spring correct ?
