On the latest version of my mustang I had to give up on 335's in the front as well due to aesthetic considerations. It hurt a little, but looks a lot better when the street tires are on. I will just have to live with 12" rims and 315's up front for track days. I can kind of think of the AMX looking cool though with too wide a body and too short of a wheelbase.
