I always take them apart to paint. I pin everything with an 1/8" bit. Bag and tag all bolts and shims to the proper location as you disassemble it for paint. This will make it go much smoother when you reassemble it. Check your gaps with the rubbers installed also because it may change things. Hope this helps!
