Its highly recommended to get a proper dyno/retune unless you have the factory exhaust manifolds and airbox.
I just did the same thing, its very pricey. All the small stuff adds up quick. Took me $5k to do my ls swap from a truck engine and I got good deals on all my parts. If you switch to a ls1 front drive you have to do the balancer as well, the truck balancer sticks out too far.
