Here's what I've come to learn in my VERY SHORT time tracking. Some guy blows past you like you're sittin' still... and since we're all competitive -- your foot goes down - your eyes glaze over - and it's "I'm going to catch that SOB!!"

What we have to learn.... that guy might be a real veteran driver -- might have super sticky tires - might have 100 hp on ya... might have a better set up car. You have a tendency to FORGET that you're on 200 tread wear tires -- don't really have the air pressures set up right -- don't have the wheel time - and the next thing you know - you're a spinning top (if you're lucky) or going into the weeds.

After doing that a couple times --- I don't chase -- I "gauge" to see if I can run with them but within MY driving skills and limits.... If they're just running off from me -- I let 'em go.

Everybody's car is different out there... so NOTHING is even. One day I'm struggling to stay behind a f'n MIATA and I'm working hard and driving a little over my head --- and I KNOW I should catch and pass a stink'n' Miata..... then I find out it's being driven by a pro Winston Cup driver.... This dude doesn't need any power -- He knows how to roll that thing thru corners! Live and learn... Learn to just drive what you brought and how you know how to drive.
