Chris “Smitty” Smith is a builder of some of the top show cars in the country and to top it off a top driver also! Smitty started his own shop back in 1999 “Smitty’s Custom Automotive” so what makes Chris different than the other top builder/drivers?
Well, for starters, a truck—yep, a truck. Often the focus of the television cameras, Smitty races a show worthy bright red, C-10 truck; one of the very few you will see at the OUSCI event. I know, trucks are the new ‘hot ticket item’ these days and we’re seeing more and more of them each year, but how many racers run RideTech ShockWaves (air springs)? So a full-sized pickup truck on air puts Smitty in a unique category of one. It’s no wonder that in addition to flawless paint and a stellar power plant and loud exhaust, Smitty gets a lot of attention.
This year, Smitty put in many long hours traveling to all the USCA events except one. Leaving his business, home and family in Ohio while making a huge commitment to race a ten-event schedule, Smitty managed to run a business, make TV appearances and manage a family life, just shows the dedication to our sport that he has.
This is Smitty’s return to OUSCI and you won’t miss him at the track always talking about how cool one thing was or how fast another will be-- with a brand new extra loud engine and a personality just as bold, good Luck Smitty!
