If you want to get REAL picky, then between the pas side wheel well and the back of the trunk so it's offset weight from the driver AND near the back of the car.
unless it's an all-out race car, I dont know that the difference of being in the spare tire section is really going to count for much.
Either way, yes... battery in the back.
