So quick impromptu poll what is the biggest deterrent from LT5s?
Initial cost?
Scarcity and cost of parts?
or Skills required to repair / upgrade performance?

On the last choice I know of 4 performance shops that still work on LT5s,
  1. Doug Rippie Motorsports
  2. LPE
  3. Callaway Cars (I think)
  4. Haibeck Automotive Technology
but then you run into the second choice.
What say yous guys?

On the poll, the first two items are a major deterrent. Working on them isn't that bad, just different. Kinda like the difference between building a SBC and a LSx.

Doug Rippie and Callaway really don't want to work on LT5's anymore. Mark Haibeck and Aaron Scott (South Georgia Corvette in Thomasville,GA) are the best LT5 tuner/builders for the money,IMO. LPE does decent work but they're overpriced. Greg Van Deventer in Stillwater,OK does some of the best machine work on these engines.(he works at Mercruiser) Bill Kirchhofer in Mt.Washinton,KY is an excellent builder, too.
