My OER mirrors gasket fits much better than that. It is just slightly longer than the mirror base on the larger end but the rest of it is snug against the base.
My gaskets came with the replacement OER mirrors.
Since then I've changed to the clear shot mirrors which also came with good fitting gaskets.

Nailed it! Purchased the Clear Shot and the fit is great. The mirror base actually fits the shape of the gasket.
